Kiaat Braai Cleaver

Built for the board beside the fire, where the real work of a braai happens.

A proper braai has two stages. There is the part everyone sees around the fire, and there is the quieter bit beforehand where somebody has to portion the meat, crush the garlic, chop the onions, split the rolls and somehow make order out of a table full of ingredients.

The Kiaat Braai Cleaver is for that person.

Its approximately 150 mm 1075 high carbon steel blade gives you a broad, useful working face with enough length for confident prep and enough weight to feel planted on the board. It is not a butcher shop cleaver and it is not pretending to be a delicate chef knife. It sits comfortably between the two, which is exactly why it makes sense around a braai.

The stabilized Kiaat handle keeps the knife unmistakably South African, while the orange and black G10 inset and stainless steel bolster give the traditional timber a sharper modern edge. The Kydex sheath is a practical finishing touch, especially for a knife likely to travel between home, camp, lodge and braai area.

This is the knife for the person who always ends up doing the prep anyway. The reward is simple. You get the best knife at the table.

A broad, practical braai cleaver built around an approximately 150 mm 1075 high carbon steel blade. Stabilized Kiaat, coloured G10 detail and a stainless bolster give the handle a distinctive modern South African character. Supplied in Kydex for practical transport between board, braai and camp.
