Ultimate BraaiChef Utility
One knife. From prep board to braai fire.
Some knives belong in the kitchen. Others only appear when the coals are ready. The Ultimate BraaiChef refuses to choose.
With a 135 mm ATS-34 stainless steel blade, it sits in that beautifully useful space between a full-size chef knife and a compact utility knife. Long enough to slice with confidence. Short enough to stay quick and controlled in the hand. Serious enough for meat prep, but nimble enough for the hundred smaller jobs that happen before the first steak ever touches the grid.
This is the knife for trimming and portioning meat, slicing onions and tomatoes, chopping herbs, cutting peppers, prepping cheese for the braaibroodjies and sorting out whatever else lands on the board while somebody else is still arguing about when the fire is ready.
Then the meat comes off the coals and the job changes. The same clean, controllable blade moves easily into slicing rested steak, carving smaller roasts and handling the serving work that turns a braai from cooking into eating.
ATS-34 gives the Ultimate BraaiChef the kind of stainless-steel practicality that suits exactly this life. It offers good edge performance, useful corrosion resistance and the confidence to move between kitchen counter, braai table and weekend cooking without needing to be treated like a museum piece.
The profile is compact, purposeful and easy to live with. It feels substantial without becoming bulky, and because the knife is handmade, the small details still matter. The finish, the handle, the balance and the way it settles into the hand give it the character that mass-produced kitchen knives rarely manage.
And because not everyone wants the same look, the Ultimate BraaiChef is offered in two handle variants. The core knife remains the same. Same ATS-34 blade. Same 135 mm working length. Same intent. The personality changes.
Choose your variant, light the fire, and let the knife earn its place.
Because the best braai knife is not the one that only cuts steak. It is the one that was already working long before the steak reached the fire.

Care and Protection
ATS-34 is a stainless steel, but it still benefits from sensible care. Wash the blade by hand, dry it after use and avoid leaving food residue, salt, acidic ingredients or moisture on the knife for extended periods. Do not put the knife in a dishwasher.
For storage, a light wipe of SharpWax on the blade can provide additional protection against fingerprints and humidity.
Natural variation notice: SharpThings knives are handmade using natural hardwoods. No two pieces are identical — handle grain, colour and character will vary from the images shown. Photos are taken in a lightbox without post-processing to represent the knife accurately, but your piece will be uniquely its own.
