Pepper Burl Forged Utility
The same forged 5160 character in four useful blade lengths, so you can choose the amount of knife that suits the way you camp and braai.
This family starts with one idea: keep the forged character, keep the handle comfortable and let blade length decide the job.
Each Pepper Burl Forged Utility uses 5 mm 5160 spring steel with visible forge texture and a clean working bevel. The blade geometry changes slightly from one piece to the next, which is part of the appeal of a handmade run, but all four share the same practical DNA.
The shorter versions are quick in the hand and well suited to smaller food prep, biltong, utility tasks and detailed work around camp. Move up through the longer variants and you gain more slicing reach for meat, vegetables and board work without changing the essential feel of the design.
Pepper Burl handles give every knife natural figure and colour variation, while black G10 liners and brass pins keep the construction visually consistent across the family.
Choose by blade length, then let the timber choose the exact personality. No two will look completely alike, and that is exactly the point.
Choose your variant
- Short: approximately 125 mm blade.
- Medium: approximately 130 mm blade.
- Medium Plus: approximately 135 mm blade.

All variants feature Pepper Burl handles, black G10 liners and brass pins.

Care and protection
- 5160 is a high-carbon, non-stainless spring steel. Clean the blade after use and dry it thoroughly before storage.
- Do not leave the knife wet, soaking in water or in a dishwasher. Acids, salt and moisture can mark carbon steel quickly.
- A light coat of SharpWax on the blade before storage helps protect against fingerprints and humidity. SharpWax can also be used sparingly on natural timber handles.
Natural variation notice: SharpThings knives are handmade using natural hardwoods. No two pieces are identical - handle grain, colour and character will vary from the images shown. Photos are taken in a lightbox without post-processing to represent the knife accurately, but your piece will be uniquely its own.
