VeldHunter
The VeldHunter is a classic South African field knife built around simple proportions, a dependable carbon-steel blade and natural hardwood. It is made for the kind of work a hunting and outdoor knife actually sees: field dressing support, camp preparation, food work and the countless cutting jobs that come with time outdoors.
At the centre of the knife is a 120 mm blade made from 5160 high-carbon spring steel. The satin-finished blade has a traditional hunting profile with enough belly for controlled slicing, while the compact length keeps the knife easy to guide when accuracy matters.
Full-tang construction gives the VeldHunter a solid, uncomplicated foundation. The handle is generously shaped rather than overly sculpted, providing a comfortable working grip while allowing the natural character of the hardwood to speak for itself.
The VeldHunter is available in a selection of natural hardwood handle variants. Each variant shares the same blade, construction and working profile, while the timber gives every knife its own colour, grain and individual character.
Choose the handle variant that appeals to you. The knife remains unmistakably VeldHunter, but no two natural hardwood handles will ever look exactly the same.
This is not a knife built around unnecessary features. The appeal is in the combination of carbon steel, natural hardwood and a proven field-knife shape. It feels familiar in the hand because the design follows an old principle: a good hunting knife should be strong, controllable and useful long after the novelty has worn off.
A practical South African working knife for the veld, camp and hunting season.

Care and Protection
5160 is a high-carbon, non-stainless steel. It can develop a natural patina with use and may rust if left wet or stored without protection.
Wipe the blade clean and dry after use, particularly after contact with food, blood or moisture. Apply a light coat of SharpWax before storage to help protect the steel from fingerprints and humidity.
Natural variation notice: SharpThings knives are handmade using natural hardwoods. No two pieces are identical — handle grain, colour and character will vary from the images shown. Photos are taken in a lightbox without post-processing to represent the knife accurately, but your piece will be uniquely its own.
