A little cleaver with a surprisingly big job description.

The Walnut Cleaver17 is the knife you reach for when a full sized cleaver is ridiculous but a little utility knife feels underdressed. It takes the broad, confident shape of a cleaver and shrinks it into a compact format that is fast, comfortable and extremely easy to live with.

The approximately 100 mm 1075 high carbon steel blade gives the knife a generous cutting face for its size. It works naturally on a board, handles smaller meat and vegetable preparation with ease, and gives you enough blade width to scoop and move ingredients as you work.

Stabilized Walnut brings a darker, more traditional look to the handle. Brass pins and white liners add crisp contrast and make the knife feel considered without making it precious. This is still very much a user, just one with better manners than most compact cleavers.

For the braai table, camp kitchen, small prep board or home kitchen, the Cleaver17 is the sort of knife that starts out as the unusual one in the collection and quietly becomes one of the most used.

A compact 1075 high carbon steel cleaver designed for controlled board work and everyday prep. Stabilized Walnut, brass pins and white liners give the handle a clean traditional finish, while the broad approximately 100 mm blade makes this small knife far more useful than its size suggests.

Care and Protection

Keep the 1075 carbon steel blade clean and dry after use. Apply a light coat of SharpWax for storage protection and avoid leaving the knife damp inside the leather sheath. Carbon steel may develop a natural patina over time.

Natural variation notice: SharpThings knives are handmade using natural hardwoods. No two pieces are identical — handle grain, colour and character will vary from the images shown. Photos are taken in a lightbox without post-processing to represent the knife accurately, but your piece will be uniquely its own.
