A rugged forged all-rounder built for the camp table, the braai and the jobs that never make the packing list.

WildBill has the look of a knife that already knows what weekends are for.

The 5160 blade carries visible forge texture through the upper section and a clean working bevel below, leaving the steel with the honest, slightly rough character that makes hand-forged knives so appealing. At roughly 170 mm long and 5 mm thick, it lands in a useful middle ground: substantial enough for bigger prep, still controlled enough for everyday camp work.

The blade profile favours slicing and general utility rather than brute-force chopping. It works comfortably through meat, vegetables, bread, rope, packaging and the usual collection of tasks that appear around a campsite or braai.

Sugar Gum gives the handle a lighter, more relaxed character than the dark forged surface suggests. Black G10 liners and brass pins bring the build together without making it overly decorative.

WildBill is the kind of knife that looks better with a few marks on it. Not because it should be abused, but because it was clearly made to participate.

Care and protection

  • 5160 is a high-carbon, non-stainless spring steel. Clean the blade after use and dry it thoroughly before storage.
  • Do not leave the knife wet, soaking in water or in a dishwasher. Acids, salt and moisture can mark carbon steel quickly.
  • A light coat of SharpWax on the blade before storage helps protect against fingerprints and humidity. SharpWax can also be used sparingly on natural timber handles.

Natural variation notice: SharpThings knives are handmade using natural hardwoods. No two pieces are identical - handle grain, colour and character will vary from the images shown. Photos are taken in a lightbox without post-processing to represent the knife accurately, but your piece will be uniquely its own.
